D'après la tradition locale, l'édifice aurait été bâti entre 1625 et 1630 par Henri II, duc de Montmorency, pour son épouse. D'architecture sobre, il se compose de trois corps de bâtiments flanqués de quatre tours rondes et disposés en U sur une cour rectangulaire précédée d'une avant-cour d'entrée. L'ensemble est couvert d'une toiture à faible pente en tuiles rondes.
