Standing at the heart of Laragne-Montéglin, this château was begun in 1609 by Gaspard de Perrinet, a Protestant lord of the Barony of Arzeliers who had just settled in the plain after the Edict of Nantes. Building work, led by Guillaume Le Moyne, who also worked at the château of Vizille, stretched on for nearly thirty years. Visitors today can see a restored monumental gateway on the Place de la Fontaine, an eastern façade returned to its original layout, and gypsum stucco work preserved in the Grande Galerie.
