What the French Ministry of Culture records

Le château a été bâti à partir de 1703 par l'ingénieur Aillet pour François Bavoux, seigneur de Larret, sur les ruines d'une forteresse médiévale définitivement ruinée en 1388 par les troupes du duc de Bourgogne. L'ensemble se distribue selon deux schémas d'organisation de l'espace, à savoir les vestiges médiévaux avec enceintes et fossés concentriques, et les bâtiments du 18e siècle organisés selon un axe ouest-est, de part et d'autre d'une avant-cour et d'une cour d'honneur. Au 19e siècle, les bâtiments sont remaniés (volumétrie des dépendances, façades et aménagements intérieurs du logis). Le logis conserve, au rez-de-chaussée, les lambris ainsi que les cheminées du 18e siècle.
