To make a day of it

Château de Coiffy stands in Coiffy-le-Haut (Haute-Marne), in the Grand Est region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The château of Coiffy no longer exists: this former stronghold of the counts of Champagne, built in the mid-13th century on a spur overlooking the Borne valley, was demolished on the orders of Louis XIII in 1635. The site, near Coiffy-le-Haut in the Haute-Marne department, retains no visible structure, though its strategic position facing Lorraine and Burgundy explains the many sieges it endured over the centuries. Only the place name 'Derrière le Château', still marked on land registry maps, recalls its past existence.
