To make a day of it

Château de la Morlière stands in Orvault (Loire-Atlantique), in the Pays de la Loire region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: third quarter of the 18th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

At Orvault, on the edge of Nantes, the château de la Morlière is a manor house rebuilt in 1772 by architect Jean-Baptiste Ceineray for the Chancerel du Coudray family. The building, modest in scale, reflects the bourgeois residences typical of Nantes in the late 18th century, with deliberately plain façades. Inside, the two reception rooms still hold wood panelling decorated with overdoor paintings inspired by François Boucher. Around the house stand an honour courtyard, outbuildings and a wooded garden.
