To make a day of it

Château de la Ligerie stands in Champagne-et-Fontaine (Dordogne), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

In Champagne-et-Fontaine, in the Dordogne, the château de la Ligerie is a 17th century manor house built on the remains of a 15th century stronghold, with two original towers still standing alongside others rebuilt in the last century. The estate owes its reputation to the Faucher de Versac family, who held it for centuries, and later to Henri de Gaulle, who turned it into a holiday home where his son Charles spent time as a boy. It is a private property and cannot be visited inside, but its history, linked to several political figures of the 20th century, makes it worth viewing from outside, north of the village of Fontaine.
