To make a day of it

Château de la Guichardais stands in Carentoir (Morbihan), in the Bretagne region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

In Carentoir, in the Morbihan department, the Château de la Guichardais stands on the site of an old manor that was rebuilt several times, the present building dating from the mid nineteenth century. Its elongated façade, flanked by two symmetrical wings, combines dressed stone with rendered masonry in a regular bay arrangement typical of the period. The estate has belonged to the same family, the Careils, since the sixteenth century, several of whom served as mayors of the town. Inside, a spiral staircase set within a corner tower remains a notable feature of the layout.
