Le château, de style néo-classique, bâti d'après les plans de l'architecte Jacques-Paul Lequeux en 1886, s'élève à l'emplacement d'un édifice mentionné au 17ème siècle. Son implantation sur un éperon rocheux, les matériaux employés- briques, pierres, ardoises- ainsi que son parc romantique en font un repère visuel incontournable dans le paysage local. Le caractère luxueux des décors intérieurs parfaitement préservés (marbre, lambris, plafonds à caissons) affiche le goût du faste et des grandes réceptions du propriétaire au moment de la construction au 19ème siècle
