The château de Grainville stands in Granville, in the Manche department, along the road to Avranches, on land that once belonged to the former commune of Saint-Nicolas-près-Granville before its merger in 1962. The building seen today results from an 18th and 19th century reconstruction carried out by the Picquelin family on the foundations of an older residence, later passing to the Lecoupé family and then to the count of Gibon de Kerisouët. The main interest lies in the former Saint-Nicolas chapel, once a parish church dating to the 15th century, which still holds wall paintings depicting the Virgin and Child alongside a donor confronted by death. The neighbouring Clémentière manor house and a dovecote complete this group of buildings, protected under separate listings.
