What the French Ministry of Culture records

Cette motte castrale témoigne de l'importance du site, en Pays de Bray, sur l'ancienne frontière entre la Normandie et le nord du domaine royal. En 1800, le domaine a été acquis par la veuve du général Hoche. A partir de 1867 a commencé une importante campagne de travaux : de 1867 à 1877, parc à l'anglaise et communs (oeuvres de l'architecte Pini) , de 1881 à 1899, logis et abords immédiats (par l'architecte Bir, dans le style néo-gothique). La chapelle funéraire de la famille Des Roys, extérieure au parc, a été achevée en 1903. A l'intérieur du logis, une galerie est ornée de peintures murales de Godon réalisées à l'extrême fin du 19e siècle (1899).
