To make a day of it
Château de Forsac stands in Benayes (Corrèze), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is not open to visitors.
Standing on a hilltop in the commune of Benayes, in the Corrèze department, the château de Forsac combines the remains of a 13th century stronghold with a late 16th century rebuilding and 19th century additions. Two towers survive from the original fortified castle, while the park still holds plane trees said by family tradition to have been a gift from Marie-Antoinette. The reception rooms were decorated in 1880 by the painter Adolphe Léon Willette and the d'Alheim couple, at the request of Count Robert de Chérade de Montbron.
