To make a day of it

Château de Fénétrange stands in Fénétrange (Moselle), in the Grand Est region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 14th century, second half of the 16th century, third quarter of the 18th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The château de Fénétrange is built around a horseshoe shaped courtyard, the result of rebuilding works carried out in 1766 by Dominique de Frimont. Inside stands a spiral staircase shaped like a snail shell, said to be unique in Lorraine, along with a Gothic chapel raised in 1584 at the request of Diane de Dommartin and Charles Philippe de Croÿ. The site's origins go back to a medieval stronghold from the 10th century, set near the Sarre river and long considered impregnable.
