Perched on a rocky spur above a bend of the Vézère river, the château de Comborn preserves the ruins of a medieval stronghold alongside an 18th century manor house. An 11th century keep, a square tower reworked in the 15th century, a vaulted chapel and underground rooms recall the seat of a powerful Limousin viscounty, cradle of the Comborn, Turenne and Ventadour families. The site has undergone recent restoration work after centuries of destruction and rebuilding.
