To make a day of it

Château de Chassay stands in Sainte-Luce-sur-Loire (Loire-Atlantique), in the Pays de la Loire region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument. The building opens only occasionally, for events.

In Sainte-Luce-sur-Loire, the château de Chassay stands on the site of an episcopal estate first recorded in the 11th century, later altered by the bishops of Nantes and by Duke François II of Brittany. The present building, in an Italian Renaissance style, dates from the 16th century and replaced a larger complex that no longer survives. Its domed rotunda, moat, terrace and turrets recall this past, and the building now houses the town hall.
