To make a day of it

Château de Chapieu stands in Lanuéjols (Lozère), in the Occitanie region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

On the Mont Mimat, overlooking the Valdonnez valley, the ruins of the château de Chapieu stand on a site that was once one of the five administrative seats of the barony of Tournel. The place recalls a stronghold built to watch over the road between Mende and Villefort, and a conflict remembered as the war of Chapieu. Only scattered remains survive today, overtaken by vegetation, though the site and its view make the climb worthwhile.
