To make a day of it

Château de Bostfranchet stands in Saillant (Puy-de-Dôme), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

Between Églisolles and Saillant, in the Puy-de-Dôme, the remains of the château de Bostfranchet mark the origins of the Beaufranchet family, later related to general Desaix. Of the fortified manor built in the 15th century under Charles I of Bourbon, only a ruined tower survives, the rest having been dismantled for its stone at the end of the 19th century. A farm now stands where the main residence once was, and a carved coat of arms can still be made out on an old well in the courtyard.
