What the French Ministry of Culture records

Le château, commandé par Louis de Legge, a été construit en deux campagnes à partir de 1870. Le premier édifice, de style néo-gothique, a été réalisé de 1870 à 1873 par l'architecte Jacques Mellet. Jugé trop modeste par Paul de Legge, le château a été reconstruit par Henri Mellet, de 1910 à 1920. La construction de 1870 a été prolongée vers le nord et l'ouest, créant un plan à deux ailes disposées à 135° et articulées autour d'un pavillon carré. Le style Louis XIII a été adopté.
