What the French Ministry of Culture records

En 1441, Foulques de Junhac, écuyer, reçut l'autorisation de bâtir une demeure de plaisance avec quatre tourelles aux angles, une lucarne de défense en encorbellement au-dessus de la porte, une tour d'escalier en vis et une palissade autour du château. Tout autre dispositif de fortification était interdit. Cet édifice est de plan rectangulaire. Devant la façade principale d'entrée s'élève une tour carrée demi hors-oeuvre abritant l'escalier en vis. Une grosse tour circulaire est bâtie sur l'angle sud-ouest. Les trois autres angles sont dotés de tourelles en échauguette. Quatre tourelles étaient prévues en 1441. Une quatrième a sans doute été édifiée à l'angle sud-ouest du bâtiment puis démolie pour faire place à la grosse tour d'angle circulaire. A l'intérieur, cheminées sculptées.
