To make a day of it

Rempart de Lucéram stands in Lucéram (Alpes-Maritimes), in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 12th century, 13th century). No visits are on record for this building.

In Lucéram, in the hinterland behind Nice, stand the remains of a medieval rampart often referred to as a castle, built from 1395 onward to defend the village on its north side, the most exposed because of the terrain. A corner tower some fifteen metres high can still be seen, along with traces of fortified gates, including the Ièra gate. The site reflects the turbulent history of this hilltop village, once positioned on the salt route between Nice and the Piedmont, at a time when Lucéram passed from the authority of the counts of Provence to that of the House of Savoy.
