To make a day of it

Château de Gairaut stands in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

On the hills above Nice, the Château de Gairaut is a Belle Époque villa built in the early 1900s for the Nice millionaire Joseph Giordan, on land that already held an older dwelling. Inside, about thirty rooms surround a glass-domed atrium, with frescoes attributed to Jules Chéret and, in one case, Alfons Mucha. The terraces of the grounds, redesigned in the early 1990s with pools, cascades and a rose garden, look out over the city and the Mediterranean. The property fell into decades of neglect before being carefully restored by a later owner, and has since changed hands again.
