Maison forte de La Forest stands in Rossillon (Ain), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: fourth quarter of the 14th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.
At the entrance to Rossillon, in the cluse des Hôpitaux, this fortified house dating from the end of the fourteenth century replaced the village's older seigneurial castle, which had fallen into disrepair by then. Built in 1398 by Guillaume de La Forest, castellan of Rossillon and Oyonnax, it forms a U-shaped group of buildings with a square tower converted into a dovecote and a round tower housing a spiral staircase. Inside, the rooms retain their old fireplaces and painted decoration imitating stone masonry.
