Fraxinet stands in Var (Var), in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France. No visits are on record for this building.
Fraxinet is not a castle in the usual sense but the name of a Saracen settlement established in the 10th century on the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, likely on the territory of the present day village of La Garde-Freinet. Founded around 890 by sailors from Al-Andalus, this outpost served for nearly a century as a base for raids reaching as far as Italy, before being retaken in 973 by Count William I of Provence. No identifiable structure remains to visit today, but the location recalls an unusual episode in the history of the Var, that of a lasting Muslim foothold in Provençal territory.
