To make a day of it

Turmhügel Obersenftenberg stands in Buttenheim (Landkreis Bamberg), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

The Turmhügel Obersenftenberg is the surviving remnant of a medieval motte perched on a rocky spur above the village of Senftenberg, now part of Buttenheim in the Landkreis Bamberg. No structure still stands, but a mound roughly seven metres high remains, ringed by ditches and earthworks still legible in the terrain. What visitors find is essentially a piece of military topography: a fortified plateau split into two levels, a cross ditch, and remnants of banks that once guarded the approach.
