To make a day of it

Tschifflicker Burg stands in Zweibrücken (Zweibrücken), in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.

Tschifflicker Burg marks the site of an early 12th century motte castle east of Zweibrücken, long since vanished above ground. Rediscovered in the 1970s, its remains include the foundations of a rectangular tower house, two cisterns, a ring wall, the shield wall of the outer bailey and traces of a neck ditch. Fragments of green-glazed stove tiles suggest the site was still inhabited into the 15th century. The appeal here lies in archaeology rather than standing architecture, since the stone was later quarried for nearby buildings.
