To make a day of it

Schloss Thalhausen stands in Kranzberg (Landkreis Freising), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

Schloss Thalhausen stands in Kranzberg, in the Landkreis Freising, Bavaria, on a site first recorded in the late ninth century as Talahusun. The present complex combines a residential wing whose core dates to the seventeenth century, later reworked in late Classicist style, a farm building of the same period, and an octagonal castle chapel dedicated to Saint Anne, built in 1707 by Johann Jakob Maffiol and topped with a slender onion-domed tower. Owned by the von Holnstein family from 1786 to 1988, the estate once included a brewery whose dark beer is said to have pleased Chancellor Bismarck. Since 1991 the buildings have housed a youth education centre, which largely shapes access to the site today.
