To make a day of it

Schloss Ottenburg stands in Eching (Landkreis Freising), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Schloss Ottenburg stands on a promontory above Eching in Bavaria, on the site of an older Burg first recorded in 750 as Outinpurg. That medieval stronghold was extended around 1150 under Bishop Otto of Freising and later turned into a prince-bishop's pleasure residence in the late 17th century, but little of it remains visible today: a 19th-century late Classicist villa with a hipped roof now covers the older core. The estate, privately owned, still includes a chapel rebuilt in 1845 on its present site.
