Schloss Neuhof stands in Coburg, Bavaria, on the site of a former moated castle first recorded in 1371 as Newenhoff. Its central block, topped with a hipped roof, dates back to the 16th century, with a ground floor of fieldstone and two upper storeys of Franconian half timbering later plastered over. In 1866 the new owner Charles Isaac Souchay commissioned architect Georg Konrad Rothbart to add a neo Gothic and neo Renaissance wing, while the grounds were reshaped into an English landscape garden. An octagonal stair tower with a spiral staircase similar to those at Schloss Ahorn and Schloss Untersiemau gives access to the building.
