To make a day of it
Schloss Harlaching stands in München (München), in Bavaria, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.
The Schloss Harlaching no longer stands: it was a château built in the early eighteenth century on the Harlaching hill, near St Anna's church, above what is today the Hellabrunn Zoo in Munich. Commissioned shortly after 1700 by Baron Markus Christoph von Mayr to designs by Enrico Zuccalli, it had a garden with cascades feeding twenty-five fountains. Two fires, in 1796 and 1800, destroyed the building, and nothing of it remains on site today. The location is now registered as an archaeological monument, and visitors can still see a memorial to the painter Claude Lorrain, erected in 1865 by King Ludwig I of Bavaria, based on the mistaken belief that the painter had once lived there.
