To make a day of it
Schloss Hackhausen stands in Solingen (Solingen), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Hackhausen Castle is a moated manor set within a wooded area of the Ohligs district, on the edge of the Ohligser Heide. Its history goes back to the Middle Ages, though the building seen today dates largely from 1907, when it was rebuilt following a fire in the late nineteenth century. The rectangular, mansard-roofed structure combines Neo-Rococo details with features typical of the Bergisches Land style, such as its green shutters. It still stands within a small moat fed by the Viehbach stream, reached by a stone footbridge.
