To make a day of it
Schloss Caputh stands in Schwielowsee (Landkreis Potsdam-Mittelmark), in Brandenburg, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 17th century. Adult admission costs 8 EUR. Its opening hours and prices were verified at the source on October 18, 2026.
Schloss Caputh stands on the shore of the Templiner See in Brandenburg and is the only surviving residence from the building programme the Great Elector Frederick William pursued around Potsdam. Begun in 1662 on the remains of an earlier residence destroyed during the Thirty Years' War, it was enlarged into a stately three wing complex by Electress Dorothea between 1673 and 1684, with a curved double staircase facing the lake. Visitors today can see the ornate banquet hall and, in the basement, the well known tiled hall commissioned by the soldier king Frederick William I.
