The Reichsjägerhof "Hermann Göring" stands at Riddagshausen, a district of Braunschweig, on the edge of the Buchhorst forest near the Riddagshausen monastery and its ponds. Built from 1934 at the instigation of the Nazi minister-president of Brunswick, Dietrich Klagges, this large forestry estate combined a regional hunting administration office, housing for forestry officials, a pheasantry and a falconry. The complex, given to Hermann Göring in 1935 as a wedding gift, was designed by architect Emil Herzig in the style of a Lower Saxon half-timbered farmhouse. Its original buildings still stand today, set within the protected landscape of Riddagshausen and Buchhorst.
