To make a day of it
Keudellsches Schloss stands in Wanfried (Werra-Meißner-Kreis), in Hesse, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Keudellsches Schloss stands at the corner of the Marktstraße and the Martinsgasse, at the northern edge of the old town centre of Wanfried in Hesse. Despite its name, it is less a castle than a grand manor house, rebuilt in the 17th century on the cellars of an earlier fortified building destroyed during the Thirty Years' War. Its ground floor of red sandstone and its half-timbered upper storeys, later faced with glazed brick, give it a distinctive appearance in the small town. The building long housed the local history museum and a documentation centre on German post-war history, before changing use in recent years.
