Haus Vogelsang is a former noble residence south of the Lippe river, in the Ahsen district of Datteln. Its origins trace back to the Middle Ages, when a fortified house stood on an artificial island surrounded by an oval moat. Today the site houses the offices of a green space management company and can only be viewed from the outside. Visitors can see a two storey baroque building from the 18th century as well as the remains of the moat that once encircled the whole complex.
