In Widdern, in Baden-Württemberg, a modest half-timbered building known as the Gemmingensches Schloss recalls the former presence of the von Gemmingen family in this town of the Landkreis Heilbronn. Built in the 16th century on a solid stone base with a round stair tower, it incorporated worked stones taken from a nearby Ganerbenburg destroyed in 1458. From the 1860s it served as an inn, a role it kept until the early 1990s, before being converted back into a private residence. The building is not open to visitors and can only be seen from the street, as a remnant of local manorial architecture.
