To make a day of it

Ehemaliger Burgstall, sogenannter Mohrenstein stands in Störnstein (Landkreis Neustadt an der Waldnaab), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

The Mohrenstein is a former medieval hilltop castle site on a spur overlooking the Floß valley, just west of the hamlet bearing the same name, in the municipality of Störnstein. First recorded in 1281 as Marnstein, the stronghold has left only scattered remains of a rectangular rubble-stone building, along with a surrounding terrace and a partial ring ditch cut into the spur. Little of the structure survives above ground, so the site is read mainly through its terrain, with a summit plateau, a mid-slope terrace and a defensive ditch still tracing the original layout.
