To make a day of it

Döhnsdorfer Burg stands in Wangels (Kreis Ostholstein), in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

The Döhnsdorfer Burg is what remains of a medieval motte near the hamlet of Döhnsdorf, in the municipality of Wangels. Built in the 12th century as a refuge fortification during the Holsatian conquest of Wagria, it now consists of an earthen mound along with faint traces of a ditch and rampart. Standing in a meadow not far from the road to Wasbuck, the tree-topped mound can still be spotted from a distance. It is considered one of the better-preserved sites of its kind in the Wagria region.
