The Burgstall Stein refers to the remains of a former spur castle located about one kilometre southeast of the town centre of Fridingen an der Donau. Built between 1100 and 1150, it was already abandoned by the second half of the 13th century, and little is known about its builders due to the lack of written sources. Visitors today can see a roughly 32 metre long stretch of the western enclosure wall, up to six metres high, along with the inner remains of a keep. The site rises about 140 metres above the Danube valley, close to the Stiegelesfels ruin and a cave fortification known as the Burgstallhöhle.
