The Burgruine Zangenstein rises on a granite outcrop above the Schwarzach gorge near Schwarzhofen in Bavaria. Built in the mid 14th century by Otto der Zenger von Schwarzeneck, it still shows sections of its curtain wall, remains of the palas and a tower, along with several vaulted cellars entered through pointed arches. On the same rock stands a baroque chapel from the 17th century, remodelled by Johann Friedrich von Aufsess, whose outline remains visible from a distance. The site is now in private hands.
