The Burgruine Malsburg crowns a wooded basalt cone at 405 metres in the Malsburger Wald, north of the Habichtswald nature park. First recorded in 1123 as the seat of the von der Malsburg family, the former castle survives today only as fragments of wall, the remains of a 6.5 metre wide tower with its spiral staircase, and traces of a well. It is a quiet forest ruin rather than a restored monument.
