The Burgrest Jagstberg marks the remains of a former hilltop castle overlooking the Jagst valley, in the hamlet of Jagstberg, part of the municipality of Mulfingen. Built by the lords of Jagstberg, first recorded in 1228, it passed through a long line of owners, from the bishops of Würzburg to the counts of Hohenlohe. The castle was torn down in 1782 due to a lack of water supply, leaving only its square keep standing, which was itself deliberately destroyed in 1822. Only scant wall fragments remain today, between the old parsonage and the village school.
