To make a day of it
Burg Wiesentfels stands in Hollfeld (Landkreis Bayreuth), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Burg Wiesentfels rises on a forty metre rock spur above the valley of the Wiesent, next to the village of the same name that belongs to the town of Hollfeld in Bavaria. For nearly six centuries the castle remained, almost without interruption, in the hands of the von Giech family, before passing through several owners from 1969 onward. The building seen today dates largely from a rebuilding at the end of the fifteenth century, following an earlier period of abandonment, and from further work in the sixteenth century after rebel peasants had set it on fire. The castle is privately owned and is not currently open to visitors.
