Burg Spangenberg stands in Neustadt an der Weinstraße (Neustadt an der Weinstraße), in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Spangenberg Castle is a partly rebuilt ruin perched on a sandstone rock above the Speyerbach valley in the Palatinate region. Probably raised in the 11th century under the bishops of Speyer, it was destroyed more than once over the centuries, including during the Thirty Years' War and again by the forces of Louis XIV. Visitors can still make out the fortified palas, the gate of the upper ward and remains of a shield wall. The ruin shares with nearby Erfenstein Castle the legend of the Leather Bridge.
