To make a day of it

Burg Ruppertstein stands in Lemberg (Pfalz) (Landkreis Südwestpfalz), in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Admission is free. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Ruppertstein Castle is a ruined medieval hill castle set on a sandstone outcrop south of the village of Ruppertsweiler, within the municipality of Lemberg (Pfalz). It was likely built in the early 13th century, after Count Henry I of Zweibrücken acquired the hill in 1198, but only scattered wall remains survive today. A stone stairway dating from around 1900 leads up to the rocky platform, now used chiefly as a viewpoint over the surrounding valley. Visitors come here mainly for the natural setting and the view rather than for any standing architecture.
