To make a day of it

Burg Loßburg stands in Loßburg (Landkreis Freudenstadt), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.

Burg Loßburg was a former moated castle, now vanished, that once stood on a mound known as the «Schlossbuckel» in the upper part of the village of Loßburg. Founded by the counts of Sulz and the lords of Geroldseck, it was built between 1252 and 1273, according to dendrochronological analysis of an oak beam found on site. The Geroldseck family had a moat dug from the source of the Kinzig river to turn this hilltop stronghold into a water castle, following the model of their ancestral seat, Burg Lahr. Nothing remains standing today; only the site itself, once enclosed by a ring wall with a round keep, recalls its former presence.
