Burg Konzenberg stands in Wurmlingen (Landkreis Tuttlingen), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Burg Konzenberg is the ruin of a spur castle standing at 783 metres above sea level, on the territory of Wurmlingen in the Landkreis Tuttlingen, Baden-Württemberg. Built in the High Middle Ages, likely by the lords of Wartenberg, it later belonged to the lords of Hirschegg before being sold in 1300 to the Bishop of Konstanz, who turned it into the seat of a lordship. Almost entirely dismantled in 1838, it still retains its massive stone keep, standing some thirteen metres tall, along with sections of curtain wall, ditches and the remains of an outwork guarding the spur.
What to know
- The ruin is reached either by a path from the north crossing the former neck ditch, or by a forest track from the spur plateau.
- Only the keep remains standing, about thirteen metres high and built of tuff stone brought from the Hegau region.
- The rest of the slender trapezoid-shaped enclosure survives only as buried remains or wall fragments visible from the outside.
- The site is surrounded by ditches, deeper on the neck side than along the spur's flanks, with an additional outwork located roughly 150 metres further on.
- No opening hours, admission fee or visitor facilities are documented; the site is outdoors, on wooded and uneven ground.
