To make a day of it
Schloss Donaueschingen stands in Donaueschingen (Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Adult admission costs 10 EUR. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Donaueschingen overlooks the park where the symbolic source of the Danube emerges, close to the town centre. Home to the princes of Fürstenberg, who have owned the site since the late 15th century, the building owes its current appearance to a reconstruction carried out between 1892 and 1896 in the Belle Époque style then fashionable in Paris. Visitors can see reception rooms decorated in styles ranging from Renaissance to Empire, including an entrance hall with a 16th century Florentine bench and a 15th century sandstone fireplace. The palace is also remembered for a stay by the young Mozart and for a concert hall linked to the origins of the Donaueschingen Musiktage.
