Burg Duttenberg refers to the remains of a former manorial seat set apart from the village of Duttenberg, a district of Bad Friedrichshall. Established around the year 800 on a ridge above the Jagst valley, it reached its greatest significance in the 14th century under the lords of Weinsberg. Of the medieval complex only a much altered residential building, an old wine press and the surroundings of the neighbouring fortified church survive, the whole having served for centuries merely as a farmyard. The site is therefore best approached as a scattering of traces rather than a castle in the usual sense.
