To make a day of it
Burg Beilstein stands in Greifenstein (Lahn-Dill-Kreis), in Hesse, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.
Burg Beilstein rises above the village bearing its name, in the Hessian part of the Westerwald, close to the border with Rhineland-Palatinate. Founded in the 12th century by the lords of Beilstein and later expanded by the counts of Nassau, it served for a time as a residence before falling into ruin after the Thirty Years' War. A modern glass and steel structure has since been built within the remains of the medieval palace, echoing the shape of the original building. The tall shield wall on the southern side, with its corner turrets, remains the most striking feature seen from afar.
