Burg Amtenhausen is a hilltop earthwork fortification perched at 830 metres above sea level on a steep slope near the former Amtenhausen monastery. What remains today is a defensive rampart roughly 75 metres long, fronted by a ditch, together with a terraced levelling of the hillside extending about 70 metres further down. The earthworks are thought to date from between the 8th and 11th centuries, apparently unconnected to the monastery founded nearby in 1107.
