To make a day of it
Bodendenkmal in Velden (Vils), #D-2-7639-0044 stands in Velden (Landkreis Landshut), in Bavaria, Germany. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
This site marks the location of a vanished castle, the former Schloss Eberspoint, whose buried remains survive underground in the hamlet of Eberspoint, part of the municipality of Velden. An artificial mound roughly ten metres high, topped by a plateau some thirty metres across, still traces the outline of the former castle mound, now occupied by a water tank. The standing buildings were torn down in 1927 and 1928, so what remains today belongs to buried archaeology rather than to any visible structure.
